Kawasaki City Collective Beautification Activities
Since 2009 we have participated in Kawasaki City’s collective beautification activities to enhance awareness of the importance of beautification activities and to strengthen collaboration among local citizens based on the motto, “Kawasaki, a beautiful and comfortable hometown.” Employees mainly from our head office in Saiwai Ward, Kawasaki City, collect litter from nearby sidewalks and bushes to protect the local environment.
Road Environment Beautification Activities
Since 2012, employees at our Hokkaido Business Office have regularly taken part in the Chuo-ku Road Environmental Beautification Activities , carrying out cleanup activities on the roads around the office. We take part in these cleanup activities in collaboration with the Chuo Ward Municipal Government, and are registered with the “Adapt Program,” whereby the city provides support with the equipment needed for the cleanup activities.
Dainohara Forest Park Volunteer Cleanup Activities
With the aim of protecting the global environment and contributing to the local community, since 2009 employees at our North Japan Branch have been participating in volunteer cleanup activities in Dainohara Forest Park in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. We are taking part in activities to conserve the lush green environment of this park, which has been chosen as one of the Top One Hundred Local Scenic Green Spots in Sendai, the City of Trees.
Chuo-ku Clean Day Activities
Since 2009, employees at our Tokyo Branch have been participating in the Chuo-ku Clean Day cleanup activities held in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, on the 10th of every month. We participate in these activities in collaboration with the Chuo-ku Government together with local companies and organizations, with the aim of making the local neighborhood clean and pleasant.
Osaka Marathon/Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon “Clean Up” Campaign
We participate in clean-up activities across Osaka City prior to the hosting of the Osaka Marathon/Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon. Employees mainly from our Western Japan Branch clean the roads, parks, and other public spaces around the office, helping to create a more beautiful area for marathon runners and spectators.
Love Earth Clean-up
We participate in the Love Earth Clean-up event held in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, cleaning public facilities and other nearby areas. Beginning in 1992 with the hosting of the Club of Rome Conference in Fukuoka, these practical activities were launched to coincide with the conference’s theme, which was the “global environment and community activities.” The activities have continued since then and are helping to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs and to tackle the ocean plastics problem.
Afforestation Activities in the Ashio Mountains
Through tree-planting activities in the Ashio Mountains, which were badly damaged by smoke pollution from the Ashio Copper Mine, we are supporting initiatives to address environmental challenges aimed at restoring the water cycle around the headwaters of the Watarase River. Employees mainly from our North Kanto Branch take part in the afforestation activities. We will continue to work with locals to restore the damaged natural environment.
Beach Clean-Up Activities
As part of our new employee training activities, since 2010 we have volunteered in cleanup activities mainly on beaches in Kanagawa Prefecture. By collecting discarded fishing equipment, plastic, empty cans, and other trash scattered along Yuigahama Beach in Kamakura and Katase Higashihama Beach in Fujisawa, we are working to enhance awareness of and tackle environmental issues such as marine litter.
Water Supply Source Reservoir Clean Campaign
The Waterworks and Sewerage Bureau of Kofu City has designated as a water source protected area the watershed of the Hirase Water Treatment Plant, including the watershed protection forest to the north of the city, and in collaboration with local citizens works to promote conservation of the water source. As part of our environmental conservation activities, we take part in the cleanup activities of the Water Supply Source Reservoir Clean Campaign.
G20 Osaka Summit Clean-Up Campaign
We participated in the G20 Osaka Summit Clean-Up Campaign to ensure we could welcome the heads of various states to a clean and beautiful Osaka. Marine plastic litter is a common topic at the G20 Summit, and in response, Osaka announced the Osaka Declaration toward Zero Plastic Waste. In line with this declaration, we engaged in these activities to prevent the contamination of rivers and seas by picking up litter in nearby areas.
Kumano Kodo Repairs
The Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range is a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising three sacred sites and pilgrimage routes in Wakayama, Nara, and Mie prefectures. To protect and utilize these areas, mainly new employees help with road repairs along the Kumano Kodo. These regular repairs, which involve fixing roads and building structures, are essential for the prevention of landslides along natural trails in the mountains. Through these activities, new employees are learning the importance of cultural and environmental protection.
Donations to the Cambodia Students’ Association in Japan (CSAJ)
To deliver stationery and educational materials to children in Cambodia who do not have access to high-quality education, we have made donations through the CSAJ. The aim is to support the education of children in Cambodia, which is the home of our overseas group company Fuji Furukawa E&C (Cambodia) Co. Ltd. In 2017, we received a letter of appreciation for our activities from the CSAJ.
Donations to the Construction of the Cambodia Paul Lyons High School Library
Between 2014 and 2015, we made donations to support education in Cambodia, which is the home of our overseas group company Fuji Furukawa E&C (Cambodia) Co. Ltd. In 2015, we donated through the CSAJ for the construction of a library at the Paul Lyons High School, and received a letter of appreciation for our activities.
Sponsorship of the Cambodia Festival
We sponsored the hosting of the Cambodia Festival, which was attended by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Japan and officials from the Japanese government. The festival communicated the arts, cultures, food, and history of Cambodia and aimed to strengthen the friendly cooperation relationship between Japan and Cambodia. As well as for Cambodia, we support cultural exchange activities for various other countries in which our overseas group companies are based.
Pattaya Beach Clean-Up in Thailand
We took part in a beach clean-up along an approximately 2 km stretch of Pattaya Beach in Thailand, which is the home of our overseas group company Fuji Furukawa E&C (Thailand) Co., Ltd. As one part of our employee training, employees visit and study at our overseas business sites. This clean-up initiative was mainly attended by new employees to enhance their awareness of the importance of tackling environmental challenges through actual environmental protection activities.
Sponsorship of the Vietnam Festa in Kanagawa
We sponsored the Vietnam Festa in Kanagawa 2016, which was first held in 2015 to strengthen the relationship between Kanagawa Prefecture and Vietnam and to promote the continuous growth and development of both regions into the future. The festival was jointly hosted by Vietnam, home to our overseas group company Fuji Furukawa E&C (Vietnam) Co., Ltd., and Kanagawa Prefecture, where our head office is based, to boost cultural exchange between the two regions.
Sponsorship of the Myanmar Festival
In May 2019, we sponsored the Myanmar Festival 2019 held at Zojo-ji Temple in Minato-ku , Tokyo, showing our support for activities that aim to strengthen mutual friendship and development between Japan and Myanmar through opportunities to encounter and further understanding of Myanmar customs and cultures. Our funding was also used to support the education of children in Myanmar, which is home to our overseas group company Fuji Furukawa E&C (Myanmar) Co., Ltd.
Donation to the Yangon Japanese School
We made a donation to a project to extend the school buildings at the Yangon Japanese School in Myanmar, which is home to our overseas group company Fuji Furukawa E&C (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. By donating to the development of the Yangon Japanese School, which teaches infants to junior high school students, the aim is to support the education of children who will go on to link Myanmar and Japan in the future.
Restoration and Recovery Support Following the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in 2024
On January 1, 2024, an earthquake struck the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture. To aid those impacted by the earthquake and support restoration and recovery efforts, together with our group companies we donated a total of 15 million yen via the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Donation to Relief Fund for Victims of the Torrential Rain in Western Japan in July 2018
Centered in West Japan but also impacting the Hokkaido and Chubu regions, the Heavy Rain Event of July 2018 (Torrential Rain in Western Japan) was caused by localized torrential downpours that resulted from Typhoon Prapiroon (Typhoon No. 7) and a seasonal rain front. To support those impacted by the heavy rain and to contribute to recovery efforts, we donated 2 million yen to disaster relief via the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Christmas Book Donation Project for Areas Impacted by the Great East Japan Earthquake
We participated in a Christmas project to donate books to children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, which occurred on March 11, 2011. The 430 books collected across the Fuji Electric Group were delivered to the children via the Japan Philanthropic Association.
